Theme: Lunar / Planet type Base Brief: This week, we will build upon our Week 05 blockout and continue refining our level design. By now, you should have a 2D map outlining your level's concept. It's time to add more details to the interiors and exteriors, bringing the theme to life. Remember, we are creating an open world environment, so let your imagination run wild and design paths and spaces that inspire cool gameplay ideas. Focus on creating visually distinct areas that are both playable and non-playable. Strive for believability and immerse the player in a believable world. Give more definition to landmark spaces and aim to tell a story within the environment. Your planned districts should start taking on their unique identities, aiding navigation and creating a sense of place. While it's important to push your design as far as possible, don't worry if you can't finish the entire level within the given time. How does it feel to explore the level as the character you've chosen? Ensure your design enhances the player's experience with that character. Time spent: 2 weeks, ~35/40 hours |
